On the 4th of September Bruce Bennie will look at the philosophical assumptions underlying the New Atheism. Drawing from his MA thesis on the subject, Bruce will consider whether naturalism is in fact the more coherent worldview as compared to supernaturalism, and whether religious belief is a crucial factor in inhibiting human progress.
Some questions Bruce will address are:
- Is Religion man-made superstitions from primitive times?
- Is Religion dangerous?
- Is the Christian church partly responsible for the rise of the New Atheists?
Bruce Bennie was a founding member of Reasonable Faith Adelaide. Bruce currently works as a case worker with high-needs clients in Adelaide and teaches seminars on Conversational Evangelism – developing skills in communicating to a post-modern society. Last year he successfully completed his MA thesis through Tabor Adelaide.
