Socrates once stated that “The unconsidered life is not worth living”.
Are you interested, or don’t you care? Do you want your life to count, or are you mainly concerned with the mundane things of this life, such as cheese and crackers?
Let’s suppose you are interested. One of the fundamental needs of our existence is to have a purpose for our lives. We innately feel that there must be a meaning to life, a point to being here, but does life have a meaning and, if so, is it 42? Is there any purpose or any meaning to ‘my’ or to our existence, or is life totally pointless? What then are the ramifications of our answers to this question? If we follow the answers to their logical conclusions, where do we end up? Brian Schroeder will look at these questions from various theistic and non-theistic viewpoints, with particular emphasis on the answers of atheism and Christianity.
