Here is Tom’s  summary:

In his groundbreaking book, historian Tom Holland offers a radical re-examination of Western values. Initially a secular humanist who admired classical heroes like Caesar, Holland was stunned to discover the brutal realities of ancient cultures. While investigating the origins of his own moral framework, he made a surprising discovery: our modern Western values are fundamentally Christian, even when we believe ourselves to be rejecting Christianity.

Holland’s “Dominion” traces how Christian thought has profoundly shaped Western morality, arguing that our most cherished liberal and humanistic ideals have deep Christian roots. Even those who critique the Church often do so using distinctly Christian moral assumptions.

This talk will explore Holland’s provocative thesis, examining how Christian principles have invisibly sculpted our understanding of human rights, individual dignity, and social justice – often in ways we fail to recognize.

Hosted by Reasonable Faith Adelaide, this talk builds upon Tom Daly’s previous discussions, examining scientific naturalism and if there is some stemming of the tide of the shrinking of Christianity in the West.
