Our modern world is trying hard to remove recognition of the meaning behind Christmas, of the reason we celebrate at this time of year. This event, Christmas, is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ roughly 2000 years ago.

It is an event so significant that time is divided into BC and AD (even BCE and CE, while trying to keep Christ out of it, still use the same focal point).

Our information for this event is contained in the writings of 2 men whose work now forms part of the Christian Bible – Matthew and Luke. But while they have many points in common, there are also major differences between the two accounts. The ‘nativity story’ as commonly told, and especially to children, glosses over these differences and, in fact, even contradicts some of the details found in these writings. So, how can these wildly different stories be reconciled, and what really happened? Brian Schroeder will address this and show how it all fits together.
