Evolution is certainly true to some degree, depending on your definition. There are at least 4 types of evolution that may be considered:
- Change in characteristics within species,
- Microevolution (variation and adaptation within species),
- Macroevolution (primitive cells to human beings), and
- Chemical evolution (the origin of life).
These categories are often conflated, which creates confusion. The first 2 types are uncontroversial. It is macroevolution and chemical evolution that are contentious, especially within Christian circles.
On Thursday the 8th of October Ray Lakeman will present an argument that Biological Evolution is not a satisfactory explanation of life on Earth. He believes that Biological Creation is a more satisfying view. His argument will not focus on the authority of the Bible, but on scientific weaknesses in the claims of Evolution.
Ray is a Reasonable Faith Adelaide committee member and is a retired science teacher.
Reasonable Faith Adelaide does not currently endorse any particular view. However, we acknowledge that this is an enormous issue that thinking Christians should not ignore and provide opportunities for the issue to be discussed and for people to express their views.
When: 7-9pm, Thursday 8th October
Location: Classroom 5, Tabor College, 181 Goodwood Road, Millswood. Entry from Mitchell Street.
