We’re often told that the history of science is a war between light and darkness. We’re told that the Church buried a whole millennium of history in a scientific dark age, and fought the Enlightenment with tooth and claw. But is this really true? Drawing on the work of contemporary science historians, this talk will unearth the real history of science and the Church.
Here is Declan’s summary of his experience:
“I have a degree in History and International Relations from Curtin University, where I now work as an apprentice with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). In that role, I work at the university campus, helping students to deepen their faith in Jesus and reach out to their classmates with the Gospel. I have taught an apologetics course through AFES called “Good Questions” for three years, which covers the problem of knowledge, God’s existence, evidence for the historical Jesus, the problem of evil and science and Christianity. I have also spoken for Providence City Church and the Institute of the Study of Christianity in an Age of Science and Technology (ISCAST) on science and Christianity.”
