Adelaide Chapter

MISSION

“The value of apologetics extends far beyond one’s immediate evangelistic contact.  It is the broader task of Christian apologetics to help create and sustain a cultural milieu in which the Gospel can be heard as an intellectually viable option for thinking men and women”.

~ William Lane Craig, Reasonable Faith

Purpose

The purposes of the Reasonable Faith Adelaide Chapter are to:

  • Provide an articulate, intelligent voice for biblical Christianity in the public arena,
  • Strengthen the faith and foundational beliefs of believers,
  • Equip believers to engage unbelievers more effectively,
  • Reach out to unbelievers,
  • Investigate apologetic issues, and
  • Be a source of reliable information.

The intent is to be truth seeking and to listen to those with different views. It is not really credible to engage in discussion with others unless we are willing to modify our views in response to the evidence. Nevertheless, we do believe that God is the author of both general revelation (nature) and special revelation (the Bible). We should never be afraid of the truth. Thus we believe that if we seek the truth with good intent, we will bring glory to God and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Content

The Reasonable Faith Adelaide Chapter seeks to equip Christians to provide an intelligent, articulate, and uncompromising yet gracious Christian perspective on the most important issues concerning the truth of the Christian faith today, such as:

  • the existence of God
  • the meaning of life
  • the objectivity of truth
  • the foundation of moral values
  • the creation of the universe
  • the reliability of the Gospels
  • the uniqueness of Jesus
  • the historicity of the resurrection
  • the challenge of religious pluralism

Method

The long term goal is to implement the purposes through the following methods:

  • Supporting the ReasonableFaithAdelaide.org.au web-site,
  • twice monthly public meetings,
  • Regular emails to members,
  • Short brochures that believers can give to their friends on common issues, and
  • debates.
